NASA’s Apollo 11
Created to honor the 50th anniversary of NASA’s moon landing, the Apollo 11 necklace features the new commemorative coin released by the US Mint in February of 2019. This proof quality curved coin is .999 silver and is surrounded with a custom made bezel. It is hung on a strand of large, high luster freshwater pearls. The pearls were carefully selected for their luster and are accented with black lava which recalls the surface of the moon. All the findings and toggle clasp are sterling silver. The total length is 19”-20”
The necklace is available with one accent lava bead at the back of the necklace or multiple lava beads spaced along the necklace.
The convex side of the coin features a representation of the famous “Buzz Aldrin on the Moon” photograph taken July 20, 1969. The reflection in Buzz Aldrin’s helmet includes astronaut Neil Armstrong, the United States flag, and the Lunar Lander. This side is presented on the front of the necklace.
The Obverse side, which is concave, features the inscriptions “MERCURY,” “GEMINI,” and “APOLLO,” separated by phases of the Moon, and a footprint on the lunar surface.
The necklace was designed by Lee Foster and is handmade in the USA.
